Bruno Maccallini on stage with his new show
FROM VIENNESE SCENES TO THOSE OF NAZI CONCENTRATION CAMPS.
Bruno Maccallini, in his exploration of the many artists who were victims of the Holocaust, impersonates in this new show, Fritz Grünbaum, the sublime Austrian cabaret performer, director and librettist, never performed in Italy, who for more than thirty years entertained audiences in Vienna and Berlin with sketches, revues and irreverent operettas, before Nazism silenced in one fell swoop the double persona he had given life to by housing him in a single body. A matador of his time. On stage are his monologues, translated and adapted for the occasion, in which he dialogues with a “second self” always arguing with himself. A splitting familiar to him with which he managed to entertain even his “colleagues” interned in Dachau until the end.
